As an author
Alongside her work as a counsellor, Monika-Andreea Hondru writes poetry, four collections in German so far and three in Romanian.
Born in 1977 in Reșița, Romania, Monika-Andreea Hondru began writing at the age of twelve, self-taught and at first exclusively poetry in her mother tongue. Three collections appeared there between 2000 and 2008.
Since 2008 she has written mainly in German. The foreign language, she says, gave her texts a new depth. Four volumes have since appeared with Verlag Kern, most recently Reformation der Liebe in 2024.

In 2015 she founded a literary circle in Gummersbach and has given readings regularly since 2016. She has appeared at the Leipzig Book Fair three times, among them 2018 and most recently 2026. That the same person counsels and writes poetry is no accident: both are searching for words for things that have none at first.
